(a) The LPT center blade is now in the six o'clock position.

(2) Do the steps that follow to install the balance clips:
(a) Make sure the nozzle and exhaust cone are cool before you install the balance clips.
(b) Put a new balance clip in the clip installation tool (Figure 508).
(c) Make sure the front tangs of the balance clip are seated in the tool.
(d) Put the tool in position so the balance clip is around the LPT airfoil (it may be necessary
to turn the LPT a small amount).
(e) Raise the aft handle of the tool to engage the tangs of the balance clip over the forward
edge of the tip shroud for the LPT blade.
(f) Lower the tool handle until the balance clip is seated on the aft end of the blade shroud.
(g) Close the tool handle to deform the aft end of the balance clip.
(h) Release the tool handle to free the tool from the aft end of the balance clip.
(i) Raise the tool handle, and move the tool forward to disengage it from the forward end of
the balance clip.
(j) Carefully remove the tool from the blade.

(3) Use a small inspection mirror, STD-600 to inspect the balance clip.
(a) Make sure the forward clip tangs are seated on the forward edge of the tip shroud for the
LPT blade.
(b) Make sure the aft end the clip has deformed over the aft edge of the tip shroud for the
LPT blade.
(c) Inspect the airfoil trailing edge for damage (PAGEBLOCK 72-00-00/601).
I. Do a Check of the Balance of the Engine

(1) Do the steps in the Operate the Engine paragraph.

(a) Look at the engine vibration indication on the lower EICAS display.
1) The limit is 2.5 units (on the display). No sudden changes of 1.0 units or more are
permitted (PAGEBLOCK 71-00-00/201).
(b) If the vibration amplitude is less than the limit, the trim balance procedure is complete.
1) Do the steps to Put the Airplane Back to its Usual Condition.
(c) If the vibration is more than the limit, continue with the procedure.
J. Find the Balance Correction Weight (W2)

(1) On polar graph paper (Figure 509), draw a vector to show the initial imbalance (Uo) at the
initial phase angle (Ao).
