E. Blend Limits
NOTE: These limits are used to keep the rotor in balance and keep the engine stall margins to a
minimum.
SUBTASK 72-35-00-218-044-G00
(1) Blend Limits for the Stage 1-14 HPC Blades with blending tool, SPL-6753(Figure 809,
Figure 810, and Figure 811)
NOTE: It is not necessary to blend blades with curled tips or folded edges unless they are torn
or cracked, or unless there is low engine performance and/or high engine vibration
caused by the curled or folded blades.
(a) Blending of nicks, dents, and tears is permitted within the limits shown in the above
Figures.
(b) Do not blend more than 0.25 inch (6.4 mm) from the platform root fillet radii.
1) Refer to the above Figures for the dimensions of the limited areas.
(c) Tool marks on the blade airfoil surfaces, the stator airfoil surfaces and the stator case
lands from blending are permitted.
SUBTASK 72-35-00-218-045-G00
(2) Blend Limits for the Stage 1-2 HPC Blades (Only):
NOTE: Any amount of edge erosion is permitted (limited by low engine performance and/or
high vibration).
(a) Blending is limited to four blades per stage as follows:
1) Up to 100 percent of area B (only one tip corner per blade) and up to 100 percent of
area C.
(b) An unlimited number of blades can have up to 0.2 square inch (129.03 square mm) of
material removed for each blade within the limits of Figure 809.
