SUBTASK 72-31-01-424-012-G00
(6) Put the spinner in position with the 1st-stage disk.
NOTE: Make sure you align the identification marks and the offset hole.
SUBTASK 72-31-01-864-024-G00
(7) Make sure all 38 bolts that you will install are the same type (hollow head or solid head).
(a) Use only one type of bolt so that possible rotor imbalance does not occur.
(b) If you must use both types of bolts, install equivalent bolts 180 degrees apart to keep
rotor imbalance to a minimum.
SUBTASK 72-31-01-644-013-G00
(8) Lubricate the bolt threads and the washers with engine oil.
SUBTASK 72-31-01-434-014-G00
(9) Install the bolts as follows:
(a) Use an across-and-across procedure when you tighten the bolts.
(b) Tighten the bolts to 300-320 pound-inches (33.9-36.2 newton meters).
(c) Make sure the run-on torque of the bolts through the barrel nuts is 10 pound-inches (1.1
newton meters). Replace barrel nuts if necessary.
(d) Loosen the bolts one-half turn with the same procedure.
(e) Tighten the bolts to 300-320 pound-inches (33.9-36.2 newton meters).
(f) Remove the three guide pins, SPL-6379.
(g) Install the three bolts to the same torque value as the other bolts that were installed.
SUBTASK 72-31-01-944-015-G00
(10) Remove the protective mats, STD-6378 from the inlet cowl.
SUBTASK 72-31-01-714-020-G00
(11) If you think the fan is not balanced because of maintenance actions (such as: if you installed a
new spinner, did not make the correct alignment marks on the old spinner, or installed
replacement fan blades) do these steps:
(a) Do the test of the engine as shown in the Power-Plant Test-Reference Table
(PAGEBLOCK 71-00-00/501).
(b) Tighten the spinner bolts again to 300-320 pound-inches (33.9-36.2 newton-meters) to
make sure they are at the correct torque value.
SUBTASK 72-31-01-714-023-G00
(12) At the first opportunity after an engine run, tighten the spinner bolts again to 300-320
pound-inches (33.9-36.2 newton-meters) to make sure they are at the correct torque value.
