CAUTION
MAKE SURE THAT YOU INSTALL THE COVERPLATE. THE COVERPLATE
LOCATION IS DIFFICULT TO SEE DURING ENGINE MAINTENANCE. IF THE
COVERPLATE IS NOT INSTALLED OR THERE IS AN INCORRECT
INSTALLATION, THE INSTALLATION WILL CAUSE A FAST OIL LEAKAGE.
ENGINE DAMAGE CAN OCCUR WHEN THE ENGINE IS OPERATED.
CAUTION
YOU MUST INSTALL THE ACCESS PLATE WITH SCREW NUMBER
NAS1102E3-10 (CPN 5713636). DO NOT USE ANY OTHER TYPE SCREW. A
SCREW THAT IS TOO LONG CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE GEARBOX AND
CAN CAUSE LOSS OF OIL.
(9) Install the access coverplate on the bottom of the transfer gearbox.

(10) Let another mechanic examine the coverplate installation to make sure that it is correct.
NOTE: If you are not able to have another mechanic examine the installation, make sure that
you do the leak check at the end of this task.

WARNING
REMOVE ALL TOOLS AND OTHER OBJECTS FROM THE INLET COWL,
STRUT, OR ENGINE. LOOSE OBJECTS WILL COME THROUGH THE ENGINE
AT HIGH SPEED WHEN IT OPERATES. THIS CAN CAUSE INJURIES TO
PERSONNEL AND DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.
(11) Do a check to make sure that all tools and equipment have been removed from the engine.
G. Put the Airplane Back to Its Usual Condition

OBEY THE INSTRUCTIONS IN THE PROCEDURE TO CLOSE THE THRUST
REVERSERS. IF YOU DO NOT OBEY THE INSTRUCTIONS, INJURIES TO
PERSONS AND DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT CAN OCCUR.
(1) Close the left thrust reverser (TASK 78-31-00-402-119-G00 or TASK 78-31-00-402-117-G00).

(2) Close the left fan cowl panel (TASK 71-11-04-412-007-G00).

(3) If you were not able to have a second mechanic examine the installation of the coverplate, do
the steps that follow:
NOTE: Oil leaks that occur after this maintenance can be difficult to find because of the low
pressure in the AGB. If enhanced maintenance practices are not followed, then a high
power N2 (80 percent or higher) is necessary to check for leaks. If enhanced
maintenance practices are followed, no engine run is necessary.
(a) Start the engine (TASK 71-00-00-802-133-G00).
(b) Do leak checks at 80 percent N2 power.
(c) Shutdown the engine (TASK 71-00-00-802-133-G00).
