Condition Maximum Serviceable Limit
Cracks, holes, tears, or metal that is gone from the trailing
edge face
Not permitted.
Holes, tears and metal that is gone Not Permitted.
Radial cracks from the bottom of the film cooling holes Permitted, if they are less than 0.05 inch (1.27 mm) in
length. Refer to the Continue-In-Operation Limits.
Radial cracks not from the bottom of the film holes (also
not in the tip)
Not permitted.
Nicks and dents in area 'A' and 'B' (damage from a hit) Permitted, if they are less than 0.250 inch (6.35 mm) in
diameter. There must be no tears, cracks, holes or material
that is gone.
Axial cracks Not permitted. Refer to the Continue-In-Operation Limits.
Surface cracks near the tip Permitted within the repair area (the repair area has a
different color)
(e) Examine the convex surfaces of the rotor blades on the stage 1 HPT for the conditions
that follow:

Cracks, holes, or metal that is gone from the face of the
trailing edge
Not permitted.
Cracks in the airfoil, not from a hit (also not in the tip area) Not permitted. Refer to the Continue-In-Operation Limits.
Dents and cracks from a hit in area 'A' Permitted, if there are no holes or tears. The cracks must
have a length less than 0.120 inch (3.05 mm) (the distance
between the convex film holes).
Holes from a hit in area 'A' Not permitted. See the Continue-In-Operation Limits.
Surface cracks near the tip Permitted, within the repair area (the repair area has a
different color).
(f) Examine the tip area (above the tip film holes) of the rotor blades on the 1st-stage HPT
for the conditions that follow:
Condition Maximum Serviceable Limit
Radial cracks that start at the tip Radial cracks are permitted on the concave side if they do
not extend below the second gill hole on the tip.
Radial cracks are permitted on the convex side if they do not
extend below the third gill hole from the tip.
Radial cracks in the leading or trailing edge that do not
extend below the tip area are permitted.
There must be no material that is gone.
Cracks Permitted, if they are only in the tip area.
Bent or curled blade tips Permitted.
Tears or metal that is gone from both tip walls. Permitted, any amount from both tip walls up to five blades
in the set. Remaining blades may have any amount if the
opposite tip wall is intact. Refer to the Continue-
In-Operation Limits.
