(10) 1st thru 5th-stage stator vanes are variable and are mounted in bored holes in casings. Inlet
guide vanes are also variable. Inlet guide vanes and 1st and 2nd-stage vanes are shrouded.
These shrouds, which are extrusions split into forward and aft halves, are matched sets held
together with clamping bolts. 1st and 2nd-stage shrouds mate with rotor seal teeth. Variable
vanes are rotated by a pair of axially mounted levers, one on each side of stator. Aft ends of
levers are attached to pivot posts located near 10th-stage of compressor. Forward ends of
levers are moved vertically by fuel operated actuators that are mounted at front of compressor.
Adjustable linkage connects levers to actuation rings. Lever arms connect variable vanes to
actuation rings. Concentricity of actuation rings is supported by adjustable spacers which limit
ring deflection by rubbing against casing outer surface.
(11) 6th thru 13th-stage fixed vanes are installed into circumferential dovetail slots and are loaded
into casing halves from horizontal splitline. Rectangular keys are installed in horizontal flanges
of upper casing half to prevent vane travel in slots.
