To create a retouched copy

by a icon in normal image
playback.

SETUP MENU / RETOUCH MENU
1) In the Retouch menu, select a retouch
option and press
. If subsidiary options
appear, make a further selection and press
again. A screen of image thumbnails
then appears.
2) Select the required image using the
Multi-selector, as you would during normal
image playback. Press
. A preview of the
retouched image appears.
3) Depending on the type of retouching
to be done (see below), there may be
further options to choose from.
4) Press
to create a retouched copy. Or
press
to go back to the options screen.
To exit without creating a copy, press
.
This option is not part of the regular
Retouch menu; it is only available in full-
frame playback, when a retouched copy, or
its source image, is selected. Press
and
from the next screen select Retouch and
press
. Scroll to Side-by-side
comparison and press
again.
The screen now shows the copy
alongside the original source image.
Highlight either image with
or and
press
to view it full frame. Press to
return to normal playback; to return to the
playback screen with the highlighted
image selected, press
.
Though related, D-Lighting should not
be confused with Active D-Lighting (page
98). Active D-Lighting is applied before
shooting, D-Lighting is applied later. In
essence, D-Lighing lightens the shadow
areas of the image. The D-Lighting screen
shows a side-by-side comparison of the
original image and a preview of the
retouched copy; a press on
zooms in
on this preview. Use
and to select
the strength of the effect, from Lo to Hi.
If your photo contains faces, you can
select the Portrait subjects box. This will
confine the effect to the faces. It will only
work if the camera detects faces in the
picture, and for three faces at most.
