FULL AUTO MODE
Full auto mode is ideal for situations when shots
need to be grabbed quickly. 110mm, 1/250 sec.,
f/11, ISO 200.
Nikon calls these “point-and-shoot”
modes, which is probably a fair reflection
of the kind of photography for which
they’re likely to be used. They work pretty
well, most of the time; you’ll hardly ever
get a shot that doesn’t “come out” at all,
but you will sometimes find that the results
aren’t exactly what you were aiming for.
After all, in these modes the camera, not
you, decides what kind of picture you are
taking and how it should look.
There’s only one difference between
these two modes. In
Auto mode the
built-in flash will pop up automatically if
the camera determines light levels are too
low, and can only be turned off via the
Active Information Display (see page 30).
(If a separate accessory flashgun is
attached and switched on, this overrides
the built-in unit.)
In
Auto (flash off) mode the flash
stays off no matter what. This is useful
whenever flash is banned or would be
intrusive, or when you just want to discover
what the D5300 can do in low light.
