RULES DON’T RULE
Again, “rules” had nothing to contribute to the framing of
this image. The light was changing fast and I had to work
quickly and intuitively. The slightly choppy water of the
lake was gray and didn’t really reflect any of the vibrant
color above, so I placed the shoreline low in the frame.
The main elements were the rainbow, and the sunlight on
the hill in the middle distance, and I tried to frame the shot
so they felt balanced.
