Dusk/dawn
Sunset mode is similar in most respects to
Night landscape. The built-in flash remains
off, though an accessory flash can be used
to light the foreground; long exposure
times are possible and a tripod is
recommended. Unlike Night landscape,
however, white balance is predetermined,
in order to preserve the vivid tones of the
sky. JPEG processing is based on a
Landscape Picture Control.
SUNSET
Sunset mode is biased towards vivid colors in
the sky. 300mm, 1/60 sec., f/10, ISO 100.
Dusk/dawn mode is also similar, but allows
for the more muted colors and lower
contrast usually experienced before sunrise
and after sunset—again, white balance is
predetermined rather than automatic.
Flash remains off (though, as ever, an
external flashgun can be used) and a
tripod is recommended. JPEG processing
is based on a Landscape Picture Control.
DUSK/DAWN
Dusk/dawn mode preserves the subtle hues and
tones before sunrise and after sunset. 62mm,
1/160 sec., f/10, ISO 1600.
