The Nikon D5300 sports over a dozen control buttons, a Mode Dial, a
Command Dial, and a Multi-selector, so it may appear complex and daunting
to users familiar with digital compacts. However, this complexity is a sign of
the power that it offers. You can do a heck of a lot with this camera.
Also, this apparent complexity arises
because so much of the camera’s power is
on the surface. You can access most key
functions rapidly through the buttons and
dials, without having to delve into menus.
Ultimately, this is beneficial. Cameras
which make you use menus for most
settings are slower and more cumbersome
in operation, and may discourage you from
exploration and discovery.
Still, the D5300 can also be as simple to
use as any “point-and-shoot” camera,
