Blossom
Autumn colors
This mode is ideal for blossom, flowers,
and similar subjects because colors are
intense, the blooms reflect a lot of light,
and detail is often lost. The camera
employs Active D-Lighting (see page 98)
to retain detail in highlight areas. JPEG
processing (based on a Landscape Picture
Control) aims to keep colors vivid but not
garish. The built-in flash remains off and a
tripod may be required in poor light.
BLOSSOM
Blossom mode preserves delicate tone and
detail in flowers and similar subjects. 200mm,
1/160 sec., f/7.1, ISO 100.
This mode tackles similar issues, aiming to
preserve the colors in autumn foliage, but
processing favors the red and yellow parts
of the spectrum. You could try it with
other subjects where these colors are
paramount. Again, the built-in flash
remains off and a tripod may be needed.
JPEG processing is based on a Vivid
Picture Control.
AUTUMN COLORS
Autumn colors mode favors vivid hues and
emphasises red and yellow colors in the image.
40mm, 1/100 sec., f/7.1, ISO 100.
