Sports
Sports mode is suited to shooting not just
sports but other fast-moving subjects,
including wildlife. The camera will set a fast
shutter speed to freeze the action. This
usually implies a wide aperture and
therefore shallow depth of field. The
camera initially selects the central focus
point, but if it detects subject movement it
will track it using all 39 focus points. You
can change the autofocus options via the
Active Information Display. The flash
remains off, so if you’d like some fill-in
flash (see page 139) you’ll have to use a
different mode (try
, or one of the user-
control modes). Alternatively, fit a separate
flashgun. JPEG processing is based on a
Standard Picture Control.
SPORTS MODE
Sports mode is intended for rapid action: note
how it freezes the spray as well as the rider.
