FUNCTIONS

FOCUSING
AF-assist illuminator
picture. If you maintain half-pressure on
the shutter-release button (in AF-S), or
hold
(in any AF mode), focus
remains locked for further shots.
Focus lock really only works for static
subjects. To maintain focus on moving
subjects, make sure they are within the
area covered by the focus points when
you shoot.
Note :
At default settings, locks
exposure as well as focus, but this
can be changed using Custom
setting f4.
A small lamp is available to help the
camera focus in dim light. It requires the
camera to be in AF-S, and either the
central focus point must be selected or
AF-A must be engaged. If these conditions
are met, it illuminates automatically when
required. Obviously, its range is limited. It
can be turned off using Custom setting a3,
and is always off in some Scene modes.
D5300 VIEWFINDER
The Viewfinder displays the available focus areas
as well as an in-focus indicator at the left of the
menu bar.
