Vibration Reduction
As the slightest camera shake is magnified
at high reproduction ratios, VR (Vibration
Reduction) technology is extremely
welcome, allowing you to employ shutter
speeds up to four stops slower than
otherwise possible. However, it can’t
compensate for movement of the subject.
Remember, too, that at close range the
slightest change in subject–camera
distance can completely ruin the focus,
so a tripod is still invaluable.
GOOD VIBRATIONS
Vibration Reduction (VR) can be a big help
in securing sharp images when shooting
handheld—but camera–subject distance is still
critical. 50mm macro, 1/125sec., f/8, ISO 400.
