Toy Camera Effect
Mimics the effect of shooting with a
plastic-lensed “toy” camera (or the result
of the popular Instagram filters) by
creating a color cast and strong vignetting.
The built-in flash is available. There are Live
View options for Vividness and Vignetting.
Miniature Effect
Mimics the recent fad for shooting images
with extremely small and localized depth
of field (see page 60, 133), making real
landscapes or city views look like miniature
models. The built-in flash is not available.
When used for movie shooting, clips play
back at high speed. Live View options:
use the Multi-selector to position the
in-focus zone.
Selective Color
Select particular color(s); other hues are
rendered in monochrome. Colors can only
be selected in Live View (select the color
under the focus point by pressing
).
This selection remains active if you then
exit Live View and take shots using the
Viewfinder, but the Viewfinder does
not preview the effect (see page 133).
The built-in flash is not available.
Silhouette
The camera’s metering favors bright
backgrounds such as vivid skies;
foreground subjects record as silhouettes.
This is most effective for subjects with
interesting outlines. No options; built-in
flash not available.
High key
Produces images filled with light tones,
usually with no blacks or deep tones at all.
It’s not clear, in practical terms, whether
this mode does anything more than
generate simple overexposure. No options;
built-in flash not available.
Low key
Low key is basically the opposite, creating a
deep, low-toned image. Again, it’s not
clear whether this mode does anything
more than simply underexpose the image.
No options; built-in flash not available.
