Miniature effect
Selective color
Edit movie
This option mimics the fad for shooting
images with extremely localized depth of
field, making real scenes look like
miniature models. It usually works best with
photos taken from a high viewpoint, which
typically have clearer separation of
foreground and background. A yellow
rectangle shows the area which will remain
in sharp focus. You can reposition and
resize this using the Multi-selector. Press
to preview the results and press
to save
a retouched copy of the image.
Also available as a Special Effect (page
52) when shooting.
You can select up to three specific color(s)
to be preserved in the retouched copy,
while any other hues are transformed to
monochrome.
1) Use the Multi-selector to place the
cursor over an area of the desired color.
Press
to choose that color.
2) To select another color, turn the
Command Dial again to highlight another
“swatch” and repeat steps 1 and 2.
3) To save the retouched copy, press
.
Also available as a Special Effect (page 52)
when shooting.
This item merely allows you to trim the
start and/or end of movie clips. Though far
short of proper editing (page 181), it has
its uses. To trim a movie clip:
1) Select a movie clip in full-frame
playback (do not play the movie).
2) Press
; select Edit Movie and press .
3) Select Choose start/end point and
press
. The screen shows the opening
frame of the clip. Press
to jump
between start and end points. Rotate the
Command Dial to jump forward or back
in 10-second steps.
4) Press
to start playing the movie from
the selected start/end point. Press
to
pause.
5) With the clip paused at the required
point, press
to set the start/end point.
Select Yes and press
to save the clip.
6) You can opt to Save as new file to
create a trimmed copy while retaining the
original. Alternatively, select Overwrite
existing file to save the trimmed copy and
delete the original (there’s no going back).
7) Repeat if necessary to trim the other
end of the clip.
