9. FUEL TANK INSPECTION AND CLEANING
Drain fuel tank according to Fuel system draining procedure
Disconnect wings leading edge
Inspect for leakage fuel supply attachment (Item A) fuel vent
attachment (Item B) and return to fuel tank line attachments
(Item C) (Only for LH Fuel tank)
Refer to Figures 14.
and 15.
Drill rivets in correspondence of lateral inspection doors for
open caps, pay attention to avoid deformation or damage
Examine fuel tank internal surface and check for excessive
damage, corrosion, signs of leaks and security of attachment.
Restore mastic layer along edges and attachment points if
needed (PR 1776 B2). Let mastic dry as long as required
Spray fuel (approved fuel) into tank
Open fuel drain valve and let drain fuel used for “washing”.
Use suitable containers to gather draining fuel. Repeat Step 6
and 7 several times as required
Remove all mastic traces from caps lower surfaces and from
fuel tank flange by usable means
Make sure to keep
tank clean from
mastic residues. It is
advised to cover W1
caps with rag or
similar means
Apply a new mastic layer (PR 1776 B2) on fuel tank flange
and fit cap on it

Apply breakstem rivets to close caps
1/8” inch breakstem
rivets required
Apply mastic on rivets head (PR 1776 B2)
