PITOT-STATIC SYSTEM MAINTENANCE PRACTICES
Static leak test
CAUTION: only use test equipment accordingly to manufacturer’s instructions.

1.
Engage parking brake.
2.
Remove static ports plugs and connect static
tester to static ports.
Use static ports adaptors and
a T-joint to contemporary
apply pressure to both the
static ports.
3.
Check alternate static port in the cabin: it must be
closed in order to avoid leakage.
Refer to Figure 2.
4.
Slowly apply vacuum to static ports until tester’s
display indicates an altitude of 1000 ft. Wait for
pressure to get steady.
Remember that pressure’s
rate of change must not
exceed altimeter’s limits.
5.
Compare the altitude indicated by static tester
with the one indicated by airplane’s altimeter.
Check that allowable
tolerances listed in Table 2
are not exceeded in a 1 min.

6.
Repeat steps 4 and 5 for each of the altitudes
listed in Table 2.
7.
Slowly reset pressure to ambient pressure.
8.
Disconnect static tester from static ports.
