PITOT-STATIC SYSTEM MAINTENANCE PRACTICES
Pitot leak test
CAUTION: use test equipment only accordingly to manufacturer’s instructions.

1.
Engage parking brake.
2.
Remove protective plug from Pitot tube and
connect the tube itself to Pitot tester.
Use Pitot tube adaptor. Make
sure that the two holes on
Pitot tube’s outer surface are
completely covered by
adaptor.
3.
Slowly apply pressure to Pitot tube until tester’s
display indicates an airspeed of 40 kts. Wait for
pressure to get steady.
Remember that pressure rate
of increase must not exceed
airspeed indicator’s limits.
4.
Compare the speed indicated by Pitot tester with
the one indicated by airplane’s speed indicator.
Check that allowable
tolerances listed in Table 1
are not exceeded in a 1 min.

5.
Repeat steps 3 and 4 for each of the speeds listed
in Table 1.
6.
Slowly reset pressure to zero.
7.
Disconnect Pitot tester from Pitot tube.
