2) Make sure the aft face of the disk does not push the spool bolts aft. All spool bolts
must engage into the holes in the disk.
CAUTION
WEAR THERMAL GLOVES AT ALL TIMES WHEN HANDLING HEATED
OR CHILLED PARTS TO AVOID HAND INJURIES.
(h) Chill fan rotor disk/forward fan shaft bolts for a minimum of 20 minutes before they are
installed.
(i) Apply anti-sieze compound (C02-071) to the threads of the bolts and to the threads and
washer faces of the nuts.
(j) Apply anti-sieze compound (C02-071) to the stage 1 fan rotor disk inner mounting flange
bolt hole spot faces.
(k) Use the fan shaft installation fixture to install four bolts spaced equally around the forward
fan shaft and stage 1 fan rotor disk mating flanges.
(l) Install the four nuts and use adapter set, SPL-6737, to tighten but do not torque at this
time.
(m) Remove the three guide pins.
(n) Use the fan shaft installation fixture to install the remaining fan rotor disk/forward fan
shaftbolts.
(o) Install nuts and tighten, but do not torque at this time.
(p) Install anti-torque adapter, 2C6834, as follows:
1) Set the anti-torque stop arm adapter, SPL-6742 so that the hole in the arm slips
over one of the trunnions of the support adapter.
2) Rotate the assembly (consisting of fan rotor with support adapter and anti-torque
adapter) to align the holes in the anti-torque adapter plate with holes in the forward
flange of the forward stator casing. Attach the adapter to the stator casing with bolts.
(q) Use locally manufactured tool to get access to the bolt heads to tighten bolts and nuts
that attach the fan rotor disk to the stage 2-4 spool (Figure 404)
1) Tighten the nuts to 540-560 pound-inches(61.0-63.3 Newton-meters) of torque.
2) Loosen the nuts one-half turn and tighten the nuts again to 540-560 pound-inches
(61.0-63.3 Newton-meters) of torque.
(r) After the fan rotor disk/forward fan shaft bolts get to room temperature, tighten nuts to
220-230 pound-feet (2640-2760 pound -inches) (298.3-311.9 Newton-meters) of torque
with tool set, SPL-6736. Install tool set, SPL-6736 as follows: (Figure 405)
1) Attach mounting plate to stage 1 fan rotor disk with two screws and two washers.
NOTE: Do not tighten the screws until the twenty equally spaced holes are aligned
with the nuts on the disk.
2) Put the anti-torque tool on a bolt with the nylon pad on the inside diameter of the
forward fan shaft.
3) Adjust the torque release rod to move the nylon pad against the inside bore of the
forward fan shaft.
4) Put the spline drive tool on the nut
5) Use a torque multiplier to tighten the nuts.
(s) Torque all nuts in a criss-cross pattern until all are torqued.
