(t) Loosen 1/2 turn and tighten the nuts again to 220-230 pound-feet (298.3-311.9
Newton-meters) of torque with tool set, SPL-6736.
(u) Remove shim material from the stage 2 booster blades.
(v) Remove the anti-torque adapter.
(w) Remove support adapter.
(x) Install the stage 1 fan booster stator vane subassembly.
1) Get a preassembled stage 1 inner shroud assembly and separate the shroud by
removing the two bolts and stops.
2) Assemble the stage 1 inner shroud halves around the fan rotor spool seal forward of
the stage 2 fan rotor blades.
a) Attach shroud halves together with 2 bolts and stops.
b) Tighten bolts to 55-70 pound-inches (6.2-7.9 Newton-meters) of torque.
c) Fill screw holes in the inner shroud/fairing segments with RTV 106 adhesive,
A01050 [C01-007]. Bolt heads should be covered and compound flush with
flowpath.
3) Carefully rotate the stage 1 inner shroud assembly until splitlines are at the 3 and 9
o'clock positions.
4) Install 78 slab headed bolts through the stage 1 stator case forward flange so the
bolt heads are aft.
5) Install 78 stage 1 vanes into preformed slots of fairing segments and on
slab-headed bolts.
NOTE: Vanes may be hand blended, if required, to give correct fit.
6) Install 78 nuts on slab-headed bolts. Tighten nuts to 110-140 pound -inches
(12.3-15.7 Newton-meters) of torque.
7) Install the stage 1 fan booster stator fairing.
WARNING
DO NOT TOUCH HOT PARTS WITHOUT THE APPLICABLE GLOVES.
IF YOU GET BURNED, PUT IT IN COLD WATER FOR TEN MINUTES.
GET MEDICAL AID. HOT PARTS CAN CAUSE INJURIES TO
PERSONNEL.
8) Heat fan stator fairing with heating element, SPL-6797, or applicable alternate to
ease the installation, if required.
9) Hook fairing over stage 1 vanes leading edge platforms. Make sure matchmarks are
aligned.
10) Install 28 screws through the stator fairing and attach to brackets at stage 2 case
forward flange.
(y) Install the stage 1 fan rotor blades.(PAGEBLOCK 72-31-02/401)
(z) Install the No. 1 bearing manifold. (PAGEBLOCK 72-31-00/201).
(aa) Install the fan rotor spinner. (PAGEBLOCK 72-31-01/401).
(ab) Install the inlet cowl (PAGEBLOCK 71-11-01/401).
(ac) Do the tests for the stage 1 fan rotor disk and stage 1 fan stator vane assembly that is
shown in the power-plant test-reference table (PAGEBLOCK 71-00-00/501).
