8.6.6.1 Extern Text
8.6.6.1.1 Extern Text: Interface settings
Please see figure 145
The dialog box for the interface settings can be accessed from the main window of the
printer:
<Main menu> - <Interface settings> (1).
The dialog box for the interface settings (2) offers two <Connection types> (3).
Ethernet
After the connection type <Extern Text Ethernet> (4) is selected you can set the <Port>
number (5) for the connection.
With this type of connection selected the printer can be controlled either by the interface
protocol respective the script language or by a bar code scanner with Ethernet interface.
Details about these options can be found in the documentation of the script language and
the Shoot&Print function.
Extern Text Ethernet
After the connection type <Extern Text Ethernet> (6) is selected you can set the <Port>
number (7) for the connection.
With this type of connection the printer expects pure data. Transferred commands
would also be interpreted as data! The data transmission can be done, for instance,
with a terminal software.
The plus/minus buttons to the right of the display field (9) can be used in order to set the
<Port> number (8). Alternatively a click in the display field will open a numeric keypad for
inputs (10).
You can save all settings and close the dialog box with the <OK> button (11). The
<Cancel> button (12) will discard all changes and close the dialog box without saving. If
you use the Ethernet interface you will have to make sure that the IP-address settings of
the printer are correct.
For this you will have to open the respective dialog box from the main window of the
printer:
<Main menu>-<Basic Settings>-<IP-Address> (13)
The tab shows the current settings (14). You will have to make sure that the IP addresses
of the printer and of the device used for the connection (e.g. Notebook) are within the
same logical address space respective within the same network.
