4.2 Perform Adjustment for Calibration and
Measurement
To install the SJ-410 after setting up a specimen or workpiece for calibration and
measurement, it is necessary to perform "vertical positioning (adjust the height of the
drive/detector unit)", "horizontal positioning (adjust the measurement starting position)",
and "leveling (adjust the tilt of the drive/detector unit)". For these adjustments, the
height/tilt adjustment unit and simple column stand (optional accessories), etc., are
required.
4.2.1 Perform the vertical positioning
To perform vertical positioning, use the height/tilt adjustment unit and simple column stand
(optional accessories).
■ Vertical positioning with the height/tilt adjustment unit
Adjust the height of the drive/detector unit so that the stylus comes in proper contact with
the measuring surface of a roughness specimen or a workpiece by turning the up/down
knob on the height/tilt adjustment unit. Check the level meter status in the Home screen
for stylus proper contact.
The height of the drive/detector unit
changes by turning the up/down knob.
(Approx. 0.5 mm (0.019 in) per full turn of
the knob)
- - - The drive/detector unit
is raised by turning
clockwise.
- - - The drive/detector unit
