5.4.2 Zero-point shift
Depending on the form of a workpiece, the measured profile may deviate to the range
apart from the zero point, as shown in Figure A. In this particular case, the measuring
range cannot be used effectively.
The function of zero-point shift allows widening the measuring range by shifting the level of
the detector to an arbitrary position, as shown in Figure B below.
The allowable amount of the variation value for zero-point shift is between -90 μm and +90
μm (-3543.307 μin and +3543.307 μin).
The detector can be shifted from its current position by -90 μm and +90 μm (-3543.307 μin
and +3543.307 μin) when zero-point shift is carried out with the stylus contacting a
workpiece. If zero-point shift is continuously carried out without measurement, the level of
the detector can be shifted by only -90 μm and +90 μm (-3543.307 μin and +3543.307 μin)
with reference to its level at the first zero-point shift.
For example, if the level of the detector at measurement start is set to -10 μm (-393.700
μin) within the range of 800 μm (31496.062 μin), the allowable amount of the variation
value by zero-point shift can be set from -100 μm (-3937.007 μin) to 80 μm (3149.606 μin).
If zero-point shift is continuously carried out without measurement, the allowable amount
of the variation value to shift the level of the detector by zero-point shift is also from -100
μm (-3937.007 μin) to 80 μm (3149.606 μin).
NOTE
• Zero adjustment cannot be performed when the measurement range is set to AUTO.
• The value set by the zero-point shift is canceled after the completion of measurement.
Each time zero shift setting is required, conduct the zero-point shift setting before
measurement.
The level of the detector at the measurement starting position where the level of the
detector can be shifted is as described below depending on the measurement range
settings.
- For 8 μm range : - 4 μm to 4 μm (-157.480 μin to 157.480 μin)
- For 80 μm range : - 40 μm to 40 μm (-1574.803 μin to 1574.803 μin)
- For 800 μm range : - 400 μm to 400 μm (-15748.031 μin to 15748.031 μin)
A: The measured profile deviates within
the range of 0 to 400 µm (0 to 15748.031 µin).
B: The deviation in the measured profile is corrected
by shifting the measurement starting level
to 0 µm (0 µin) or lower.
