16.2.5 Analyzing the step area
If the top (or bottom) of a peak (or valley) exceeds the peak height (or valley depth) level,
the area over (below) the level is calculated.
The range calculated is the area enclosed by the peak (or valley) that exceeds the peak
height (or valley depth) level and the slice level line.
If there is more than one peak (or valley) satisfying the condition, the area of the peak (or
valley) that has the greatest area parameter calculation range is calculated.
Definition of area parameter
Area (area of peak) (area of valley)
Area = area calculated by ΣZi x dx
dx = sampling pitch
The Analyze Step Area screen can display convex step area analysis (page 16-31) and
concave step area analysis (page 16-37) results. Confirm the step area analysis
description with the target surface.
IMPORTANT
With step area analysis, the screen is displayed with "Del.Wave" set to "OFF".
