3.2.2 Skid-attached measurement setup
• Prior to attachment or detachment of a stylus and a nosepiece, be sure to detach the
detector from the connector unit.
• For information about detaching the detector, refer to "3.3 Attaching and Detaching the
Drive Unit and Detector" (page 3-6).
■ Attaching the stylus and skidless nosepiece
1 Plug the stylus in the detector main unit. If it is clicked, the stylus is firmly fixed with
spring action.
2 Adjust the height adjustment screw of the nosepiece using an Allen wrench (nominal
0.9) so that the screw tip will not extrude from the screw hole.
3 Using an Allen wrench (nominal 1.5), mount the skid-attached nosepiece on the
detector main unit with a nose set screw (socket-head screw).
At this time, while firmly pushing the nosepiece by your fingers onto the detector
main unit, tighten the nose set screw (socket-head screw).
• If the stylus and skid-attached nosepiece are attached to the detector, it is required to
check the zero point and adjust the nosepiece height. For information about checking
the zero point, refer to "3.3.3 Checking the zero point: for skid-attached measurement
setup" (page 3-13). For information about adjusting the nosepiece height, refer to "3.3.4
Adjusting the nosepiece height: for skid-attached measurement setup" (page 3-15).
• If the skid-attached nosepiece is attached with the power of display unit turned on,
measurement cannot be performed correctly. Before attaching the skidless nosepiece,
turn the display unit power off and detach the detector from the connector unit.
