15. PRELIMINARY MEASUREMENT (AUXILIARY FUNCTIONS)
No. 99MBB765A
15.8 Detecting Peak/Bottom Position
In the case you want to use characteristic position in the shape of the measured workpiece
or a position based a the characteristic position as the starting point of measuring, the
stylus tip can be automatically positioned at such a position using the peak position
detection function. Characteristic shapes that can be detected by this function are the
peaks (the highest point of the shape) and bottoms (the lowest point of the shape).
It is also possible to position the stylus at the start point of measurement so that the peak
or the bottom resides at the center of the measurement length.
NOTE
• Set the workpiece, and adjust the height of the stylus so that the stylus touches the
workpiece within a range where it will not go over range.
distributed positions
Moves to the highest X-axial position of the
shape based on the preliminary
measurement data.
Moves to the lowest X-axial position of the
shape based on the preliminary
measurement data.
Moves to the start point of measurement
along the X-
axis so that the highest (or
lowest) X-axial position of the shape resides
at the center of the measurement length,
based on the preliminary measurement data.
