6.1 Calibration Preparation
This system supports two types of calibration: "Ra Calibration", for which a precision
roughness specimen provided as a standard accessory is used, and "Step Calibration", for
which an optional accessory step specimen is used.
To perform Ra calibration, measure the precision roughness specimen and adjust gain so
that measured value is equal to Ra of the precision roughness specimen.
To perform step calibration, measure the step specimen and adjust gain so that measured
value is equal to the value of the step specimen.
Depending on the usage of the SJ-410, calibration should be performed periodically. In
addition, if the instrument is used for the first time or if the detector has been mounted or
replaced, calibration is essential.
Without properly calibrating the instrument, correct measurements can not be obtained.
6.1.1 Calibration preparation
Use the supplied precision roughness specimen for Ra calibration.
Use the optional accessory step specimen (No. 178-611) for step calibration.
NOTE
•
When calibration needs to be performed with a standard other than the supplied
precision roughness specimen or the optional accessory step specimen, it must only be
done after the default calibration conditions have been modified so they are suitable for
the roughness specimen or the step specimen. For information about changing the
calibration condition settings, refer to "6.3 Calibrating the SJ-410" (page 6-8) and "6.4
Setting Calibration Conditions" (page 6-11).
