20 MAINTENANCE AND
INSPECTION OF THE
SJ-410
20.1 Daily Care
After a measurement task has been completed, store the SJ-410 components in the
attache case to keep out dust and moisture. Before storing the drive/detector unit, check
the condition of the SJ-410 for smooth start of the next task.
■ Checking for normal operation
To judge whether the SJ-410 is in normal operation, after calibrating it with the supplied
roughness specimen (Order No.178-601, 178-605) check that the dispersion of Ra values
is within
±0.05 µm, which are obtained from repeated measurements of the same point. This
dispersion in the roughness specimen is a value obtained under the conditions that there
are no dent and abrasion on the detector stylus tip and no scratch and abrasion on the
specimen surface.
NOTE
• When the measured point on the supplied roughness specimen (Order No.178-601,
178-605) is changed during repeated measurement, the dispersion of ±0.09 µm (3.543
µin) (±3% of the nominal value) included in the roughness specimen is added to that of
the Ra values. Care should be exercised.
■ Storing the touch pen in the display unit
Store the touch pen in the drive unit housing on the display unit.
■ Cleaning the surface of the SJ-410
If the SJ-410 is soiled, wipe it using a soft, dry cloth. Do not use thinner or benzene for
cleaning.
