3.7 WLAN MIMO Modulation Analysis Measurement
To support higher order MIMO implementation, the characterization of the design
becomes more complicated. Therefore, the tests become even more complicated.
WLAN MIMO Modulation Analysis Measurement enables engineers to characterize
their MIMO designs by providing signal formats demodulation and the EVM
performance results for multiple channels, cross-channel and streams. It can also
display the results in time-domain or frequency-domain.
The measurement provides simultaneous measurements for multiple channels when
connecting to multiple instruments.
Here we take 2-Channel MIMO measurement as an example:
The 2x2 MIMO system is comprised of 2 input channels and 2 spatial streams. So, it
has four input-channel/spatial-stream paths: Ch1 Strm1, Ch1 Strm2, Ch2 Strm1,
and Ch2 Strm2.
WLAN MIMO EVM measurement is available on the platforms of EXM and VXT.
Here is the hardware requirements for MIMO configuration:
EXT E6640A Option E6640A-M22 supports 2x2 MIMO
Option E6640A-M33 supports 2x2 or 3x3 MIMO
Option E6640A-M44 supports 2x2, 3x3 or 4x4 MIMO
VXT M9421A Option M9421A-MMO supports 2x2, 3x3 or 4x4 MIMO
Option M9421A-MMO and M9421A-MTS support 2x2, 3x3, 4x4, 6x6 or 8x8

VXT M9410A/11A Option M941xA-MMO supports 2x2, 3x3 or 4x4 MIMO
