8.7 MVLAN Setup Screen
Multicast VLAN allows one single multicast VLAN to be shared among different subscriber VLANs on
the network. This improves bandwidth utilization by reducing multicast traffic in the subscriber
VLANs and simplifies multicast group management.
Click Multicast > MVLAN in the navigation panel to display the screen shown next. Use this screen
to configure MVLAN groups in this screen.

LABEL DESCRIPTION
1~X The numbers represent the individual ports on the card.
Use the F and X radio buttons to set each port’s membership in the static MAC multicast group.
Select F to make the port a permanent member of the static MAC multicast group.
Select X to set the port to “forbidden” meaning it is always blocked from joining the static MAC
multicast group.
Use the All Fix or All Forbidden button if you want to set all of the card’s ports to the same
membership status for this static MAC multicast group. See Table 320 on page 593 for more on
VLAN registration.
Apply Click Apply to save the changes in this screen to the system’s volatile memory. The system loses
these changes if it is turned off or loses power, so use the Config Save link on the navigation panel
and then the Save button to save your changes to the non-volatile memory when you are done
configuring.
Cancel Click Cancel to close the screen without saving your changes.
