Add or remove the shims (25) until the end play is
correct.
• If the nut (8) was removed, replace it with a new
one.
After replacing, be sure to stake it firmly.
• Apply grease to the oil seal (9) and install it, noting
its direction.

4.25 REAR PTO
1. Remove the seal cap (1), snap ring (2).
2. Use a soft-faced hammer and PTO drive shaft 3 (4)
rearwards out of bearing (6) and remove the PTO
drive shaft assembly out of housing.
3. Remove the 17T gear (5), ball bearings (3, 6). Use
a hydraulic press to remove the ball bearing (3) from
PTO drive shaft 3 (4).
4. Remove the nut (8). Support the spline boss as-
sembly and drive the PTO shaft (10) rearward from
the housing.
5. Remove the oil seal (9), snap ring (11), ball bearing
(12), shims (25) and lift out the countershaft as-
sembly items (14 ~ 22).
Remove the spacer (13).
6. Remove the items (14 ~ 22).
Use a hydraulic press to remove items (20, 22, 15
and 16) from the spline boss (21).
7. Remove the snap ring (24), ball bearing (23, 24).
Use a slide hammer to remove the ball bearings
(23, 24).
(When assembling)
• Measure the gap between the bearing (12) and snap
ring (11).
