3.13 Transporting Header
WARNING
Do NOT drive combine with header attached on a road or highway at night, or in conditions which reduce
visibility, such as fog or rain. The width of the header may not be apparent under these conditions.
3.13.1 Transporting Header on Combine

ommended procedures in your combine operator's manual for transporting, towing, etc.
• Disengage he
ader driv e clutch when travelling to and from the field.

ng combine on a roadway, be sure flashing amber lamps, red tail lamps and head lamps are
clean and wor
king properly. Pivot amber lamps for best visibility by approaching traffic. Always use
these lamps o
n roads to provide adequate warning to other vehicles.

ing on a roadway, clean slow moving vehicle emblem and reflectors. Adjust rear view mirror
and clean wi
ndows.

eel fully and raise header unless transporting in hills. Maintain adequate visibility and be
alert for r
oadside obstructions, oncoming traffic and bridges.
• When trave
lling downhill, reduce speed and keep header at a minimum height. This provides maximum
stability
if forward motion is stopped for any reason. Raise header completely at bottom of grade to
avoid cont
acting ground.
• Travel sp
eed should be such that complete control and machine stability are maintained at all times.
