5.8.2 Rem ovin

WARNING
Stand to rear of knife during removal to reduce risk of injury from cutting edges. Wear heavy gloves when
handling knife.
Manually stroke knife to its outer limit and clean area
around the knifehead.
1. Wrap a chain around knifehead and pull knife out.
2. For SINGLE-KNIFE DRIVE with splice plate, remove
bolts from splice plate and pullknife out from both ends.

5.8.3 Removing Knifehead Bearing
Procedure to remove knifehead bearing.
1. Manu ally stroke knife to its ou ter limit and c lea n area
around the knifehead.
2. Remove bolt (A).
3. Remove the grease zerk (B) from the pin.
4. Use a screwdriver or a chisel in slot (C) to release load
on knifehead pin.
5. Pry pin upward with a screwdriver in pin groove until
pin is clear of knifehead.
6. Push th e knife assembly inbo a rd until it is cle ar of the
output arm.
7. Seal bearing in knifehead with plastic or tape, unless it
is being replaced.
