Serial port
IX20 devices have a single serial port that provides accessto different features, depending on the
serial port mode selection.
Default serial port configuration
You can review the default serial port configuration for your device.
Serial mode options
You can choose a serial mode option for each serial port, depending on the feature that you want to
use.

Login: Allowsthe port to beused to log into the CLI.

Remote Access: Providessocket level access to ports.
n
Application: Provides accessto the serial device from Python applications.
n
PPPdial-in: Allows the device to answer Point-to-Point Protocol (PPP) connectionsover serial
ports.
n
RealPort: Used in conjunction with the Digi RealPort driver.
n
UDPserial: Providesaccess to the serial port using UDP.
n
Modem emulator: Allowsthe device to act asa dial-up modem emulator for handling incoming
AT dial-ins.
n
Modbus: Allowsthe device to function as a Modbusprotocol gateway.
