Configure a PPP-over-L2TP tunnel
Your IX20 device supportsPPP-over-L2TP(Layer 2Tunneling Protocol). The tunnel endpoints are
known as L2TPAccessConcentrators (LAC) and L2TPNetwork Servers (LNS). Each endpoint
terminates the PPPsession.
Required configuration items

For L2TPaccess concentrators:
l
The hostname or IPaddressof the L2TPnetwork server.
l
The firewall zone for the tunnel.

For L2TPnetwork servers:
l
The IPaddressof the L2TPaccessconcentrator.
l
The local IPaddressassigned to the L2TPvirtual network interface.
l
The IPaddressassigned to the remote peer.
l
The firewall zone for the tunnel.
Additional configuration items
n
The UDPport that L2TPservers will listen on, if other than the deafult of 1701.
n
Access control for the L2TP tunnel.
n
For L2TPaccess concentrators:
l
L2TPnetwork server port.
l
The username and password of the L2TPserver.
l
The metric for the tunnel.
l
Enable custom PPPconfiguration optionsfor the tunnel.
o
Whether to override the default configuration and only use the custom options.
o
Optional configuration data in the format of a pppd optionsfile.

For L2TPnetwork servers:
l
The Authentication method.
l
The metric for the tunnel.
l

Web
1. Log into Digi Remote Manager, or log into the local Web UI asa user with full Admin access
rights.
2. Access the device configuration:
Remote Manager:
a. Locate your device as described in Use Digi Remote Manager to view and manage your
device.
b. Click the Device ID.
