7. (Optional) Configure authentication.
a. From the Authentication Method list box, select the Shared Secret - SHA256 option.
b. For Shared Secret, enter the authentication password to ensure secure communication.
Leavethis field blank to disable authentication.
8. Enable Exclusive Mode to ensure that any connection from an IP addressis closed when
opening a new connection from the same IP address. Thisdisabled by default.
9. Enable RealPort Keepalive to send RealPort keepalivepackets. This is enabled by default.
10. Enable TCP Port Keepalive to send TCP keepalive packets. This is disabled by default.
11. Click Apply to save the configuration and apply the change.
Show serial statusand statistics
To show the statusand statistics for the serial port:
Web
Log into the IX20 WebUI asa user with full Admin accessrights.
1. On the main menu, click Status
2. Under Connections, click Serial.
Command line
1. Select the device in Remote Manager and click Actions> Open Console, or log into the IX20
local command line as a user with full Admin access rights.
Depending on your device configuration, you may be presented with an Access selection
menu. Type admin to accessthe Admin CLI.
2. Use the show serial command:
> show serial

3. Type exit to exit the Admin CLI.
Depending on your device configuration, you may be presented with an Access selection
menu. Type quit to disconnect from the device.
Review the serial port message log
Serial port messages can be reviewed from the Serial Port Log page.
Aserial port message log is created and saved when serial port logging has been enabled and
configured for one of the following serial port modes: Login, Remote Access, RealPort, or UDPSerial.
You can view the log file from the Log column in the Serial Statuspage.
