Remote Authentication Dial-In User Service (RADIUS)
Your IX20 device supportsRemote Authentication Dial-In User Service (RADIUS), a networking protocol
that provides centralized authentication and authorization management for users who connect to the
device. With RADIUSsupport, the IX20 device actsasa RADIUSclient, which sendsuser credentials
and connection parameters to a RADIUSserver over UDP. The RADIUSserver then authenticatesthe
RADIUSclient requests and sendsback a response message to the device.
When you are using RADIUSauthentication, you can have both local users and RADIUSusers able to
log in to the device. To use RADIUSauthentication, you must set up a RADIUSserver that is accessible
by the IX20 device prior to configuration. The processof setting up a RADIUSserver varies by the
server environment. An example of a RADIUSserver is FreeRADIUS.
