9.3 Synchronous motor: Pole posion idencaon (PPI)
For controlling a permanent-magnet synchronous motor, the pole posion - the angle
between the motor phase U and the eld axis of the rotor - must be known.
For Lenze motors with absolute value encoder or resolver, the pole posion has already
been set correctly.
When incremental encoders are used (TTL or sin/cos encoders without absolute posion
informaon), a pole posion idencaon (PPI) is always required. This also applies to
Lenze motors.
Precondions
In 0x2C00 (P300.00) the motor control type "Sensorless control (SL PSM) [3]" is selected.
The "Pole posion idencaon (PPI) without movement" funcon is available for the iden-
caon of the pole posion for the inverter i5xx. ^ 167
9.3.1 Monitoring the pole posion idencaon
If an error occurs during the pole posion idencaon,
the procedure is stopped without the sengs being changed.
the response set in 0x2C60 is eected.

9.3.2 Pole posion idencaon (PPI) without movement
The PLI funcon can also be used if no motor revoluon is possible (holding brake acve).
NOTICE
With an incorrect parameter seng and dimensioning of the inverter, the maximum permissi-
ble motor current may be exceeded during the pole posion idencaon.
Possible consequence: irreversible damage of the motor.
Set the motor data correctly. 4Motor data ^ 50
Only use an inverter that is performance-matched to the motor.
Precondions
The wiring of the three motor phases and the motor encoder must be carried out accord-
ing to the specicaons from the mounng instrucons.
The inverter is ready for operaon (no fault acve).
For pole posion idencaon (PPI) without movement, the motor must be at standsll.
