12.15 PROFIBUS
PROFIBUS® (Process Field Bus) is a widely-used eldbus system for the automaon of
machines and producon plants.
PROFIBUS® is a registered trademark and patented technology licensed by the PROFIBUS &
PROFINET Internaonal (PI) user organisaon.
Detailed informaon on PROFIBUS can be found on the web page of the PROFIBUS & PRO-
FINET Internaonal (PI) user organisaon: hp://www.probus.com
Informaon about the dimensioning of a PROFIBUS network can be found in the congu-
raon document for the inverter.
Precondions
The control unit (CU) of the inverter is provided with PROFIBUS.
The DIP switch for the node address is set correctly, see: 4Basic seng and opons ^ 460
The device descripon le of the inverter is imported into the conguraon soware for
the control.

Details
The inverter is integrated into a PROFIBUS-DP network as slave. It is only allowed to receive
and acknowledge messages and to respond to requests by a master. The master is also refer-
red to as an acve bus node. Two dierent types are disnguished:
Class 1 DP master: central control (PLC or PC) which cyclically exchanges process data with
the slave. Acyclic data exchange via a separate transmission channel is also possible.
Class 2 DP master: engineering, conguraon, or operator device (HMI) which only
exchanges data with the slave acyclically, e.g. for the purposes of conguraon, mainte-
nance, or diagnoscs.
Communicaon protocols (PROFIBUS DP)
PROFIBUS DP-V2 is not supported by the inverter.
Funcons of the communicaon protocol PROFIBUS DP:
DP-V0: cyclic data exchange, diagnoscs (all devices).
DP-V1: acyclic data exchange, process alarm processing (process automaon). Note: The
inverter does not support any alarm diagnoscs.
DP-V2: cycle synchronisaon and me stamp, slave-to-slave communicaon.
A class 1 DP master connecon (DPV1 C1) between a cyclic master and slave is established
automacally when the "Data Exchange" state has been established. In byte 7 of the parame-
terisaon frame, the "DPV1_Enable" bit must be set. Furthermore, a class 2 DP master con-
necon (DPV1 C2) with the slave can be dened by another master connected. This connec-
on must be established via the "MSAC2_Iniate" service.
The inverter supports the following acyclic DPV1 services:
MSAC1_Read/Write: C1 read/write request for a data block.
MSAC2_Iniate/Abort: connecon or disconnecon for acyclic data exchange between a
class 2 DP master and the slave.
MSAC2_Read/Write: C2 read/write request for a data block.
