13.10 Update device rmware
The device rmware is connuously improved by the manufacturer. New rmware versions
contain error correcons, funcon extensions and simplify the handling.
A new rmware is always compable with the older version:
•
A device with updated rmware and unchanged parameter sengs shows the same
behaviour as before.
•
Parameter sengs must only be adapted if new funcons are used.
Details
The inverter i550 supports the manual rmware download with the »EASY Starter (Firmware
loader)« as well as the automac rmware download via EtherCAT. The main reason for an
automac rmware download is the simultaneous update of rmware and parameter sengs
for an already nished machine.
Typical applicaons for an automac rmware download:
•
Series producon: All machines automacally receive the rmware released for the
machine including parameter sengs.
•
Device replacement: If a device replacement is required, the device automacally gets the
suitable rmware including parameter sengs without the need for an intervenon or
special knowledge of the machine operator.
•
Device update: Due to funcon extensions or error correcons, an update of the rmware
is almost automacally possible for the machine manufacturer or end user.
