12.16 PROFINET
PROFINET® (Process Field Network) is a real-me capable eldbus system based on Ethernet.

PROFINET® is a registered trademark and patented technology licensed by the PROFIBUS &
PROFINET Internaonal (PI) user organisaon.

PROFINET transmits parameter data, conguraon data, diagnosc data, alarm messages,
and process data between the IO-Devices and the IO-Controller (PLC).

The data is transmied as a funcon of its me-crical behaviour via corresponding com-
municaon channels.
•
The inverter is implemented as IO-Device into a PROFINET-RT network.
•
The PROFINET connecons are carried out as standard RJ45 sockets.
•

Precondions
•
The control unit (CU) of the inverter is provided with PROFINET.
•
The required GSDML device descripon les for PROFINET are installed in the engineering
tool for conguring the network.

PROFINET connecon
•
The PROFINET connecon is established via the RJ45 sockets X2x6 and X2x7.
•
For establishing the connecon to the network, a common standard Ethernet cable from
CAT 5/5e is suitable.
