12.9 CANopen
CANopen® is an internaonally approved communicaon protocol which is designed for com-
mercial and industrial automaon applicaons. High data transfer rates in connecon with
ecient data formang provide for the coordinaon of moon control devices in mul-axis
applicaons.
CANopen® is a registered community trademark of the CAN in Automaon e. V user organ-
isaon.
Detailed informaon on CANopen can be found on the web page of the CAN in Automa-
on (CiA) user organisaon: hp://www.can-cia.org
Informaon about the dimensioning of a CANopen network can be found in the congura-
on document for the inverter.
Precondions
The control unit (CU) of the inverter is provided with CANopen.
The network is terminated by one bus terminang resistor each at the rst and last physi-
cal node. See "Typical topologies”.
The DIP switches for node address, baud rate and bus terminang resistor are correctly
set, see: 4Basic seng and opons ^ 348
The required EDS device descripon les for the inverters to be put into operaon are loa-
ded in the master (PLC).

Details
The implementaon of the CANopen communicaon prole (CiA DS301, version 4.02)
enables baud rates of 20 kbps to 1 Mbps.
For establishing a simple network connecon, the inverter provides predened control and
status words for these proles.

There are also addional mappable data words to individually control the inverter:
The inverter control is precongured via a CiA 402-compliant control word.
