Chassis Configuration Settings
GARD 8000 SYS RFL Electronics
April 1, 2012 7-61 973.334.3100
System Mode
There are three System Modes as follows:
On-Off
FSK: 2F
FSK: 3F
Common Settings
Module Enable/Disable
The module can be Enabled or Disabled.
TX Center Frequency (30-500 inc 0.125)
Sets the TX Center Frequency (In on-off it’s the TX Block Frequency) from 30kHz to 500kHz in
0.125kHz increments. Refer to paragraph 10.4 for instructions on setting the RF Power Output Filter
(TX Filter) jumpers.
RX Center Frequency (30-500 inc 0.125)
Sets the RX Center Frequency (In on-off it’s the RX Block Frequency) from 30kHz to 500kHz in
0.125kHz increments.
RX Bandwidth
There are three settings for each system mode as follows:
In FSK: 200Hz, 500Hz and 1000Hz
In on-off: 500Hz, 1000Hz and 1500Hz
For 3F systems you must select the bandwidth between the center frequency and either the Shift Up
or Shift Down frequency. NOT the total bandwidth from Shift Up to Shift Down frequencies.
Low Signal Level Alarm (0-100 inc 1)
In FSK applications, sets the RX Signal Dropout Threshold. If the RX level drops more than the
selected amount below nominal, an alarm is generated. The range is from 0dB to 100dB in 1dB
increments. Normally set to 10dB. Note: Disable the corresponding alarm in the RX logic to
prevent it from blocking tripping.
Min. Rx Level (On-Off = 15) (FSK = 11) (6-100 inc 1)
FSK Mode: Determines the minimum point at which a trip can be instantaneously received.
The FSK RX threshold sets the absolute level, this sets the instantaneous level.
Must be set to 11.
On/Off Mode: Set to the minimum level that should be considered a valid block, relative to
the block level at commissioning. For example; to reject carrier signals more
than 15dB below nominal, set the Min. Rx Level to 15.
Factory recommended value for On/Off is 15dB.
