This module has 3 separate Potential Transformers (PT’s) for phases A, B, C and 4 Current
Transformers (CTs) - A, B, C and Neutral. Using the existing Distance Relay front and rear modules,
the Metering Module measures and calculates line characteristic values. The values are sent via a
control bus to a Status Webpage. For a more detailed description and webpage set-up and
configuration see Section 15.
2.4.6 TELEMETRY TRANSMITTER MODULE OPTION
This module receives analog DC inputs as defined by the user (temperature probes, current
measurements etc.). The Telemetry Transmitter Module will output the received information as digital
data to be processed by other facets of the GARD system. See section 6.13 for setting jumpers and
resistors on this module.
2.4.7 REAR SYSTEM I/OS
The rear System I/Os are:
TCP/IP electrical or optical HMI communications port, RJ45 connector for electrical, ST for
optical
RS-232 and RS-485 HMI communication ports
IRIG-B input/output with BNC connector. When used as an input, a modulated (maximum 10
V peak-peak) or un-modulated (logic-level) IRIG-B signal is accepted. When the GPS receiver
is included in the system, the IRIG-B port outputs un-modulated (logic-level) IRIG-B for
typically up to six external devices.
1-PPS (one pulse per second) reference input (logic-level) with BNC connector. When the GPS
receiver is included in the system, the 1-PPS port outputs (logic-level) 1-PPS for typically up to
six external devices.
RS-449/X.21/V.35 digital teleprotection interface. This is a full-featured teleprotection
interface which can be configured to 56 kbps or n x 64kbps (n=1-12).
2.4.8 DISPLAY MODULE AND BASE DIGITAL TELEPROTECTION SYSTEM
This board consists of two separate functions; the display unit with the logic processor and the base
digital teleprotection system.
2.4.8.1 DISPLAY UNIT/LED INDICATORS
The display unit handles all HMI communications tasks. The front of the board is supplied with 20
programmable tri-colored LED’s and a TCP/IP port for PC web browser connection.
The main user interface is a web server connected to a PC via the TCP/IP port. There is an optional
front mounted TSD (Touch Screen Display.) See section 5.5
The programmable LED’s are factory configured or customized by the end user. Below is a typical
LED configuration for a GARD 8000 3U chassis with a PLC FSK Module. Note that typically not all
