Preparing ECG
Patients
Careful preparation of the skin as well as correct
positioning of the electrodes is crucial for the gen-
eration of distinct signals.
Electrodes
Both reusable and disposable electrodes are avail-
able.
z Arrange the electrodes in such a way that an
optimum ECG signal is received by Zeus IE.
The amplitude of the P- and T-waves should not
be less than one third of QRS amplitude.
z Position electrodes as far from the operation
site as possible.
Instructions for burns
z Only use sterile electrodes.
z The electrodes must be attached with a water-
tight plaster (approx. 5 cm wide) or with sterile
adhesive tape and protected against liquids.
