Monitoring
NMT safety instructions
NOTE
The NMT module is not supported in neonatal
mode.
NOTE
Do not use the NMT temperature sensor for
measuring core body temperature.
NOTE
The NMT module produces high-frequency
pulses. Make sure they do not interfere with other
sensitive equipment.
NOTE
Do not use the NMT pod in the presence of com-
bustible anesthetic gases.
CAUTION
Only use accessories approved by Dräger. Other-
wise, correct functioning may be impaired.
WARNING
Take special care when using electrodes with
a current density of >2 mA eff./cm
2
! Only use
electrodes which are suitable for use with pe-
ripheral nerves stimulators!
WARNING
Simultaneous use of HF surgery and the NMT
pod on the same extremity of the patient can
lead to burns caused by the electrodes of the
pod and to a fault in the pod.
WARNING
Do not touch active NMT electrodes. Active
stimulation is indicated on the NMT pod. Oth-
erwise there is a risk that measuring results
will be distorted.
WARNING
Only attach the electrodes as described. In-
correct positioning of the electrodes can seri-
ously endanger the patient! Do not attach
electrodes to places where inflammation or in-
jury is apparent. Electrodes must not be laid
across the chest.
WARNING
Risk of patient injury
NMT modules must not be used on patients
with heart pacemakers unless this is in-
structed by a medical specialist. Before using
the NMT monitoring, check whether the stimu-
lation has an effect on the heart pacemaker.
WARNING
When using the NMT Pod, maintain a distance
of 1 meter from shortwave and microwave
equipment. Otherwise, correct measurements
will not be possible.
WARNING
With patients who have nervous or neuromus-
cular problems, it may occur that they re-
spond incorrectly to nerve stimulation. Unu-
sual patterns may be displayed in the NMT
module while relaxation is monitored.
WARNING
To avoid electric shock all the cables must be
checked carefully before use. No liquids must
be allowed to drip onto connectors, elec-
trodes or electrical leads.
WARNING
Check cables and sensors for damage before
use. Otherwise there is a danger of electric
shock and the possibility of distorting meas-
urement results.
