Starting the E
ngine
DANGER
Avoid possible injury or death from a runaway machine.
This machine has safety devices which allow the engine to start only when the ground speed lever is in
N-DETENT, the steering wheel is locked in the NEUTRAL position, and the header drive switch is in the
OFF position. Under no circumstances are these devices to be deliberately rewired or misadjusted so
that the engine can be started with controls out of NEUTRAL.
Do NOT start engine by shorting across starter or starter relay terminals. Machine w ill start with drive
engaged and move if normal starting circuitry is bypassed.
Start engine only from operator s seat with controls in N EUTRA L. NEVER start engine while standing on
ground. Never try to start engine with someone under or near machine.
Before starting engine, be sure there is plenty of ventilation to avoid asphyxiation.
IMPORTANT:
Do NOT tow machine to start engine. Damage to hydrostatic drives will result.
WARNING
Before starting engine, securely fasten your seat belt and ensure trainer’s seat belt is fastened if occupied.
The seat belt can help ensure your safety if it is used and maintained.
1. The battery main disconnect switch is located on the
right-hand frame rail, behind the maintenance platform,
and can be accessed by moving t he platform. Ensure
switch is in the POWER ON position.
