Reel Speed on A30-D Headers
The reel is d
riven by the auger and both are dependent on the main header drive speed. The auger and reel speed
can only b e
changed b y installing a different size au ge r drive sproc ket, or by varyin g the wind ro w e r engine rpm.
A30-D head
ers do NOT have a reel speed sensor, therefore no reel/auger speed information is displayed o n the
cab displa

Reel Spee
d on A40-D He aders
The A40-D Auger Header features a hydraulic direct drive reel with an operating speed range of 15–85 rpm. Reel
speed is controlled by the cab display module (CDM) and the g round speed lever (GSL) in the operator ’s station.
The reel drive motor and the auger drive motor are connected in series but a separate line to the auger allows the
reel speed to change independently from the auger speed. Switches on the GSL are used to adjust the reel speed
which is displayed on the CDM display. The reel speed can be set by three methods:
• Reel Only (only reel speed changes)
• Reel On-the-Go (reel and auger speeds change)
• Reel to Ground (indexed)
NOTE:
Adjust
ing the reel speed will result in a change to auger speed unless the auger speed has been preset.
